Mike Kitto


An experienced property lawyer with a robust commercial background, Mike has a well-founded reputation for efficiently and effectively identifying issues and crafting solutions around complex property matters.  Mike's first rate technical knowledge and strong interpersonal skills enable him to quickly earn the trust and respect of clients and provide the foundation stones for successful commercial outcomes.
Mike received his initial grounding in legal practice working in the commercial and property teams of one of New Zealand's leading national law firms.  Having discovered an aptitude for advising on complex property matters, Mike has subsequently forged a career working with progressive firms with clients in need of high-level property assistance both here and in the U.K.

Mike combines over 20 years of technical expertise in areas such as property acquisitions and sales, subdivisions, financing and commercial leasing with a calm pragmatism and relatable manner to ensure top quality, solution-based, interaction with clients.

Mike’s last role prior to joining Brown Partners in July 2015 encompassed over three years assisting the clients of a top tier Christchurch law firm to navigate a wide range of challenging property issues post-earthquakes.
